Overview
The GitHub Contribution Chart Generator renders your GitHub contribution graph as an SVG image (or PNG) you can drop anywhere — READMEs, blogs, websites. Keyless and free (verified live: the /api/v1/{username} SVG endpoint works).
Quick Start
Contribution chart SVG (verified live — octocat):
curl "https://github-contributions.vercel.app/api/v1/octocat"
Embed in a README:

Options (light/dark, PNG output):

Authentication
None — keyless.
Rate Limits & Notes
- Free; no documented hard limit — be polite (it hits the GitHub API server-side).
- The chart mirrors the GitHub contribution calendar (yearly grid).
?format=pngreturns a PNG instead of SVG; dark/light variants available via params.- It’s a convenient alternative to GitHub ReadMe Stats’ contribution section (whose hosted instance is currently paused as of 2026-08).
FAQ
Is it free? Yes — free and keyless.
How do I embed it?
Use the image URL directly in a README or <img> tag.
Does it show the current year? It renders the contribution calendar like your GitHub profile page.
